Women United has partnered with Akiera Charles, a consultant at Consumer Reports, who works on their Beauty Justice Campaign, and we are excited to invite you to a powerful community event co-hosted by Consumer Reports, WE ACT for Environmental Justice, and Clean+Healthy focused on the Beauty Justice Act (S2057 Webb / A2054 Glick): a critical piece of legislation that seeks to ban the most harmful chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products sold in New York State.
This Community Conversation will take place on Friday, May 16th at Riverfront Library in Yonkers from 2 pm - 3:30 pm EST. The event is designed to raise awareness about the disproportionate health risks toxic beauty products pose to Black women and girls, and to build momentum behind the Beauty Justice Act. Attendees will hear from scientists, advocates, and community leaders, participate in interactive activities, and receive tools to take legislative action. Our very own, Cordia Newton, will be on the panel discussion representing Women United of Westchester Social Club. This gathering will educate and activate local residents and organizations across Westchester to advocate for safer, more equitable beauty standards.
Hope you can join us!
