About us

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to empower all women to build essential social opportunities; create new friendships, collaborate, educate, and provide civic engagement opportunities in Westchester County and New York State.

WUW is committed to embracing all women’s diversity, promoting racial equity and belonging.  Through our leadership we promote the empowerment to help women and girls engage in solidarity to promote social change.

CEO/PRESIDENT MARITZA FASACK

Maritza Diaz Fasack is a Physical Education Teacher in Yonkers, NY. She has been teaching for 28 years.

She teaches regular Physical Education classes and Adaptive Physical Education classes. She has taught Ballroom Dancing to grades 2nd through 5th. She has been a golf , soccer , gymnastic, cheerleading coach and volleyball referee.

She is a certified TESOL Teacher for adults and a certified Group Fitness Instructor. She was a college mentor for five years at Westchester Community College and volunteered as a Support Group Leader for Westchester Alliance on Mental Illness.

She is a member of the Westchester National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), YFT Women’s Committee, member of the League of Women Voters Scarsdale, a member of Westchester Women Agenda, and an Officer Board Member of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA).

She is a proud mother of two adult children and enjoys watching classic movies with them.

Maria Abdullah has over 14 years of professional experience working the corporate in world.

she is the Senior Vice President, Global Networks Manager, Citi Salutes Strategic Advisor, and Citi Human Resources | Global Diversity & Talent Management. She spent most of her career working in the corporate sector at the world's leading financial data and global media company, Bloomberg LP. In which she served in numerous different roles including leadership, technical operations, account management and financial data analytics.

Maria has also worked in the public sector with the Yonkers City Council as an Aide and Special Advisor to the City Council President and has worked on several political campaigns in New York. She also has extensive experience working with domestic and international non-profits.

She is a proud member of Rotary International and serves on the DEI Committee for District 7230 and is also the Covid-19 response committee chair, International service committee member, and board member of the Board of Directors for the Yonkers Rotary club. Maria is an advisor and former mentor for American Corporate Partners helping veterans transition into the private sector and civilian life. She also serves on the advisory board of the Women's Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and Equality focusing on women’s empowerment and is a Co-Leader for the Westchester I Chapter of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, working on building social bridges to bring world peace. Maria has also previously been honored by the New York State Assembly and Pamela’s Big Heart Foundation. She is an avid writer, a Brown Belt in Shotokan Karate, and speaks three languages. She has a profound passion for philanthropy, public service and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Maria is a loving mother of three and she loves having family meals together with her children.

VICE PRESIDENT MARIA ABDULLAH

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

Lakisha Kiki Wolfe-Medina is a retired Speech Language Pathologist .

She worked as a Speech Language Pathologist with special needs children on correcting speech and language disorders throughout NYC and Westchester County.

She is the former owner and operator of Whole Body Wellness Plus in Yonkers, NY, where she taught fitness, STRONG by Zumba (a HITT class that incorporates karate moves and fitness moves to high tempo music), and Goju karate.

She studied karate with Power of Self Goju under Master Dave Thomas where she competed in weapons, forms, kumite, and self defense.  Records show many first place trophies and a few Grand Championships. 

She mentors young women on life and writes and recites her own poetry. She sings on a couple of choirs that she’s been affiliated with over some time. Gardening is also one of her passions.

Medina also enjoys family time with her four children (mostly grown). 

NATASHA MONDAY BOARD MEMBER

Natasha Monday is a mother of three children, a wife, an educator, and a life coach. She has been teaching algebra for eleven years in the New York City public school system. Natasha recently founded a coaching and consulting business, Exponential Access LLC , to support anxious/stressed women and students bloom to their full potential at school, work, and beyond. She is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and believes in equitable access to education for all students. Natasha is proud to serve as the Recruitment Board Director for the Women United of Westchester Social Club. 

ERIN NOELLE GUVEN BOARD MEMBER

Erin Noelle Guven, Esq. is a Court Attorney-Referee for the 9 th Judicial District (Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange and Rockland Counties) and is currently based in Supreme Court in White Plains.

She has worked as a poverty lawyer, represented survivors of domestic violence and political asylum seekers.  Erin is a devoted advocate for access to justice for all, including as the Pro Bono Director for Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, where she was responsible for creating innovative programs to expand legal services to underserved community members including bankruptcy clinics, uncontested divorce clinics, a Housing Court “Attorney of the Day” program, an unemployment benefits legal assistance program and many more.

Active in the legal community, Erin is a founder and a former co-chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the Westchester Women’s Bar Association (WWBA) and served as State Director, Recording Secretary and Vice-President. Ms. Guven also served as Co-Chair of the Westchester County Bar Association (WCBA) Pro Bono Committee, authored a column entitled “Spotlight on Pro Bono” in the WCBA Newsletter and is currently a member of the Diversity Committee. She is a former Co-Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Pro Bono Coordinator’s Network and currently volunteers as a Judge for NYSBA’s high school mock trial program.

Happily married for over twenty years, Erin and her husband, Ergul live in Yorktown Heights with their two handsome and community oriented teenage sons and two dogs. Erin loves to be involved in her children’s lives and activities and she is currently active in Somers/Peekskill Sea Scout Ship 30, Yorktown Scout Troop 164, the Yorktown Middle School PTA and various other local community organizations.

Intisar Marji has worked as a Teacher Assistant for over 20 years in the Yonkers Public School District. She works with special needs students, students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and with Autism Spectrum disorder. She also works with regular education students in grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

She is the Treasurer for School 23 PTA and Women United of Westchester Social Club, inc.

She works part-time for the YMCA Community Garden Program, in which she helps students become the next generation of scientists, farmers, chefs, and entrepreneurs.

Intisar has four children. Two children in college, one in High School, and one in Elementary School. She loves Sunday dinners when the whole family can get together.
